Day 1:
Mi muy guapo esposo dropped me off bright and early. I found out I was going to drive one of the vehicles to the airport. This would have been fine except the car had very shallow cup holders and I ended up spilling coffee all over my pants before I even got out of the driveway.
Once we arrived in Queretaro, we went to a restaurant with amazing Mexican food. This is when I met my senora. Ever since I was a very young child, when I feel stupid, I cry. I felt tears well up as everyone around me was speaking Spanish and I could only pick out a word or two. I was petrified that I would not be able to speak to my senora for three solid weeks. She saw the fear in my face and switched from Spanish to English. I felt like I could breathe again. Thank God she speaks English! She told me it was going to be ok and she would help me with my Spanish. We have already been practicing.
After lunch we took a cab to her casa/tienda. I have my very own living quarters upstairs. Me gusta mi nuevo casa! (My blog will increasingly be in broken Spanish as the weeks go on. I am here for school credit so I have to practice my Spanish and show improvement. I am in a remedial Spanish class by myself. All the other girls are fluent or nearly fluent.)
Mi senora es trabajar en la tienda. When the store closes we are going to walk around downtown. I can’t wait. She lives in the downtown area. Everything is so different here – graffiti on the walls, small shops everywhere, narrow brick streets…. Her son moved out in January so she no longer has wifi. The parks do have wifi so I will post to the blog when I can.
Tomorrow we are climbing a mountain!! Me gusta estudiar en Mexico.
