This was my view while getting ready for church in the morning. You never know when a chicken will try to walk in the house or walk into the outdoor shower with you.
This was my first time to go to church in Uganda. The church resembled a church service back in the states. There were songs, readings from the Bible, an offering, and a sermon. There wasn't a communion. Many missionaries in the area attend this church. My goal is to attend a church that Ugandans attend in the near future. I also have tried several eating establishments that missionaries eat at. I want to eat at places that serve Ugandan food.
This is the location of the outdoor church service.
After church Jason and Kari dropped Megan, Isaac, and I off in town. Megan and I bought phone cards so we could call our dads on fathers day. I also called Ryan and tried to reach Roni and Ness. After we bought the phone cards we finally found The Keep - the place with the good milkshakes. Unfortunately it was closed :( We found another place for milkshakes. The milkshakes were better than the last place but still really thin. Isaac loved it but we told him he still hasn't had a proper milkshake.
The Segners went to a Chinese restaurant for Father's Day. They were not home when we got back from town. We got locked out and a tiny tiny window was our only option. Luckily Isaac fit!! While in town Megan and I each bought a 12-pack of coke zero that we were dropping off at the house.
Apio is the wonderful lady that helps with cooking, cleaning, and going to market. We were invited to go see her. It is a very short walk. These pictures are taken just a few plots down from the Segner house.
This is the building Apio lives in with her 3 children. Many families live here.
Apio lives on the top floor. This was the view looking down. The fish were HUGE!
Small children walk around here and there is no rail. Not safe at all. The view is gorgeous.
The view into the center of the building.
How they dry their clothes.
The men around this truck did not seem happy we were there.
This is Apio's friend and neighbor, Tracy. She lives in the same building. Two boys from Ohio are going to move into a room in her apartment soon.
Megan and I with Apio and children.
Megan and I cooked hamburgers and fries for dinner. They were pretty good. Luckily the kids thought they were great!
While we made dinner, Kari and Jason went to tend to the malnourished child. The grandmother and child showed up unexpectedly. The food shown costs $20. They are able to make a high protein powder that can be mixed into porridge. This child is the same age as Hadlee but much smaller. They were told the sibling is in much worse shape.
