Pillars of Hope

6-16-12

Today we visited the Pillars of Hope ministry.  The children gather on the weekends to sings songs, learn about the bible, and spend time with one another.  They had a short program prepared us.  They did a fantastic job. Most of the children live close to the meeting place.  Some of the children live too far away to walk there and are provided with transportation.  Forty-five children are served through this ministry.

Godfrey (on left) started the ministry.  A man named Peter currently works with the children each week.  The man on the right was visiting from Tennessee.  His name is Kirk.  Kirk has established a website for Pillars of Hope and is busy setting up a nonprofit organization so that individuals will be able to sponsor a child served by this ministry.  The children need funds for school fees and uniforms.

Kari showing Godfrey a mat made from plastic grocery bags.  The bags are woven into a rug.  They could be used for women giving birth as they are antibacterial.  A group from the US sends these over to the Segners to distribute.

Jason brought medical equipment to treat the children of Pillars of Hope.  One little girl may have a broken foot.  She may get taken in for x-rays next week.

Karson had fun playing with the kids.  Just a little bit dirty.
